3G regulation – Denmark reintroduces corona restrictions – foreign policy

Two months after all corona restrictions were lifted in Denmark, the country is once again introducing measures to control the epidemic.

The panel of epidemiologists is proposing to reintroduce the 3G regulation, and the government is following this advice, Prime Minister Med Frederickson said in Copenhagen on Monday evening. The reason is a sharp increase in the number of infections.

On the panel’s recommendation, Frederickson said Covid-19 would be re-classified as a “threat to the community.” In the future, evidence of corona vaccine or recovery or negative test will be required again in many areas of the public.

Denmark deregulated Corona on September 10 last year.

The mask requirement on public transport was already canceled in mid-August. However, after the end of corona operations, the number of new infections has risen sharply again.

Last weekend, the National Health Commission warned of an overburdening of hospitals.

On Monday, authorities registered more than 2,000 new infections in the country, with about 5.8 million people, for the fifth day in a row.

In Denmark, 85.9 percent of the population over the age of twelve is fully vaccinated. The reintroduction of the 3G rule means “restrictions for those who are not vaccinated. I think it has to be that way, ”Frederickson said.
