WithA severe traffic accident in the US state of Alabama has killed people, including nine children and a teenager. CNN reported Sunday, citing forensic medicine in Butler County, that eight children between the ages of 4 and 17 have died in a vehicle at a woman’s home. In the second vehicle involved in the crash, a 9-month-old girl and her 29-year-old father were killed. The accident happened on Saturday in stormy weather on the I-65 motorway.
The driver of the van was seriously injured. Michael Smith, chairman of the Alabama Sheriff’s Youth Ranch, a non – profit organization, told the New York Times that he had been rescued by aides from a burning vehicle. The group was returning from a beach trip, Smith said.
Eight children, five girls and three boys died at the scene of the accident. According to Smith, the two children of the driver who ran into the camp were among the victims. “It was a terrible tragedy and loss,” the organization wrote on Instagram.
Authorities say several vehicles were involved in the crash on the rain-soaked road. The highway was closed for several hours. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
