Stocks fell in the Asia-Pacific region on Monday as investors looked forward to this week’s Federal Reserve meeting and US inflation data.
Hong Kong Hang Seng Index It fell 2.2% to close at 19,463.63, topping losses in the region. Hang Seng Tech fell 4.05% to close at 4,192.67.
South Korean standard Cosby It closed down 0.67%, at 2373.02, and the KOSDAQ fell 0.59%, at 715.22. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan fell 1.13%.
On Monday, India is due to publish data on inflation and industrial production.
Later this week at the state level, the Federal Reserve is due to go live Two-day meeting Tuesday. Economists widely expect the US central bank to raise interest rates by half a percentage point on Wednesday.
