Barracks in Austria: Soldier killed in firing

A soldier was killed in a shootout in Austria. A 20-year-old shot and injured his superior at a camp. He shot again.

A spokesman for Austria’s defense ministry said a guard shot his superior several times at a camp in Austria and wounded him. In the ensuing gunfight, a 20-year-old soldier was shot dead by a superior officer. The incident took place at the airfield camps, 50 kilometers from Vienna.

According to initial reports, an altercation preceded the incident, spokesman Michael Bauer wrote on Twitter.

Further investigations into the crime

According to APA news agency, the State Criminal Police Office has launched an investigation into the exact course of events. Already three years ago there was a fatal incident in the same camp: that time, a dog handler was attacked and killed by two army dogs. The 31-year-old sergeant was responsible for caring for and feeding the service dogs.
