Lilia (9) was stabbed while playing in the street

Residents of Boston, in the English county of Lincolnshire, are in shock: On Thursday, a nine-year-old girl was stabbed in the street.

Lilia Valutyte was with her sister (5) downtown in front of a cafe where her mother Lena worked. At 6:20pm (local time), children were playing with hula hoops on a cobbled, quiet street when Lilia was stabbed.

British media reported that the mother was the first to run to her seriously injured daughter. Paramedics then fought for the schoolboy’s life in an ambulance, but could not save him.

Home Secretary Priti Patel, 50, wrote on Twitter: “Shocked by the tragic death of a nine-year-old girl in Boston, Lincolnshire.” His “deepest sympathy” goes out to the girl’s family.
