His manager, Carlos Santana, said he collapsed during a Tuesday night show in Michigan, as a result of heat stress and drought.
Santana, 74, who was Roam with earth, wind and firewas in the middle of a set at the Pine Knob Musical Theater in Clarkson, about 42 miles north of Detroit, when he fell, according to witnesses and video from the scene.
Medical personnel attended Santana, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, before he was taken off stage, and video shows.
Director Michael Freunis said in a statement that Santana was taken to the emergency room for observation and was “doing well.”
A show that was scheduled for Wednesday in Burgstown, Pennsylvania, has been postponed until further notice, the statement said. It was unknown when he would be back on the road.
The Miraculous Supernatural Tour has 21 dates left until late August before Santana returns to Las Vegas for his stay at the House of Blues, where a show based on his greatest hits is set for the fall.
