The college football recruiting world was shocked Thursday night when he was a five star Cormani McLean verbally committed Miami. The second player in the 2023 class was relegated to Alabama and Florida, but picked sticks over two other schools.
What do hurricanes get
Miami gets the best player in the field, a cover corner everyone expects to start from day one. McClain has speed, length, and two wings to make life tough on ACC receivers. From 7 on 7 events to camps and high school games, McClain makes paying middlemen to go his way. Hurricanes get All-American potential with McClain.
What makes McClain different
Besides being an outlandish athlete, MacLean is really good at what he does. From his back to getting familiar with the ways and flipping his hips, he’s an elite across the board in his approach to the game. There is a dog factor in Maclean that is being overlooked. McClain isn’t boisterous or outspoken, his skills do all the talking on the field. Another benefit, McClain will go down and take out a receiver and/or come back.
Why is this so big for MIAMI
This is a big win for Miami in more ways than one. The Hurricanes have added their third five-star player to the 2023 category for future download. Head coach Mario Cristobal and company don’t have a three-year plan to challenge in the ACC, they have a winning approach now with this class. The added bonus is keeping McClain away from Florida and jumping to eighth place nationally in the Rivals recruiting team rankings.
