“There is no other way” – Luxembourg wants to increase the pressure on unvaccinated people
As the vaccination rate stagnates, the government in Luxembourg wants to impose more on those who have not yet been vaccinated. 3G should be made mandatory in the catering industry. More on live ticker.
D.The Luxembourg government wants to use new vaccines to vaccinate unvaccinated people against corona. Prime Minister Xavier Bettel announced in Luxembourg on Friday that the 3G rule will be mandatory in gastronomy from November 1, according to which only those who have been vaccinated, healed and tested negative will have access. A negative self-test is no longer enough to get the green light on the “govt-check-system” — then you need a certified test result.
“Anyone who has not been vaccinated or recovered must be tested regularly for the Govt test from November 1, at their own expense and outside of working hours,” Pettle said. Employers can also use the rigorous cov- eral test method. But every company has to decide for itself.
“Making it as easy as possible for people”
“We know that these actions make the lives of people who are not vaccinated very uncomfortable,” Betel said. “But we have no choice.” The Luxembourg health system cannot be overburdened. However, if the vaccine rate remains stagnant for a long time, it threatens to increase the number of infections again in the next few months.
“We’ve made it as easy as possible for people,” Pedal said, referring to the many vaccine benefits available without an appointment. But unfortunately the plea for vaccination has had a limited effect in the last few weeks.
In Luxembourg, 76.9 percent of people over the age of twelve have been vaccinated once. “But that means 23.1 percent are not vaccinated, so (almost) a quarter.” Most affected people who are treated in hospitals are not vaccinated. Pedal said the measures, which have not yet been decided by parliament, will apply until December 18.
