EU: Corona aid is no less in the United States
The European Union and its 27 member states spend a total of about 3. 3.95 trillion to tackle the corona epidemic and its aftermath. EU Economic Commissioner Pavlo Gentiloni told a panel of the European Parliament that the union should not be ashamed compared to the United States. He turned against criticism that Brussels was not as involved as Washington.
“If you look at it in a certain way, we can say that the U.S. response is stronger and faster than the European thing,” Gentiloni explained. However, one must keep in mind that “we are not a federal country. That is why we must take into account member states and the EU level. ”This translates to a total of 8 4.8 trillion.
The European Union (EU) has agreed to a 750 billion euro aid package. In addition, it has a budget of 1 1.1 trillion over seven years, which aims to tackle the recession triggered by the epidemic. US President Joe Biden sent $ 1.9 trillion in aid packages in his first 100 days.
Valdis Dombrovsky, vice-president of the European Commission, announced that the first payment to member states could be made in July. The second installment may be paid by the end of this year. Money flows only if it is possible to prove that governments in individual aid states have used previous grants as planned.
