3.46 pm: Altmeier discusses expanding Corona aid
Federal Economy Minister Peter Altmeyer has announced further expansion of economic aid to stressed industries. In view of the development of the Corona crisis, the CDU politician said on Monday: “We are monitoring the progress very closely. As the Minister of Economy, I will not hesitate to provide this assistance in good time by the end of August. The need arises along the way.”
A few weeks ago, the federal government agreed to extend the tool, Bridging Aid III, as “Bridging Aid III Plus” until the end of September 2021.
Of course, the extension needs the approval of his ministerial colleagues, Finance Minister Olaf Scholes (SPD) said at the digital event “Digital Forum Forum and Creative Industries 2021”. “But I’m very confident that we will be able to provide this assistance to those who need it in the next few months.” Altmeier noted the difficult situation of cultural and creative industries considering closures. Parts of the industry saw a dramatic drop in sales. The economy is picking up again. But some businesses still need help.
