In a recently conducted Ipsos poll, Democratic Voters expressed their doubts about the Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren winning the Presidential elections, even though she continue to gain ground against 2020 primary rivals, former Vice President Joe Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
According to the reports, the survey was conducted from August 28 to August 30. 2,012 adults including 923 Democrats and independents participated in it.
The results of the polls revealed, almost 50 percent of the voters believe that with regards to a man, a woman will experience more difficulties to defeat President Trump. On the other hand, nine out of ten Democratic voters claimed that idea of women president leading the country is perfectly fine with them.
There has been an increase of nine percent voters who are comfortable with female president, as compared to the Ipsos poll conducted in June.
70-year old, Elizabeth Warren has managed to successfully gain the attention of the crowds in her campaigns conducted in last few weeks. She also received a standing ovation in her campaign rally at New Hampshire, which will hold presidential primaries on February 11.
In the poll, other than the Massachusetts Sen., voters also expressed similar concerns about other female 2020 Democratic hopefuls, 54-year old Kamala Harris and 59-year old Amy Klobuchar.
Natalie Hughes, who is an African American citizen and a Democratic voter said, “This country likes to go with tried-and-true and a white man is what they want, an older white man. At this point in time, I don’t think this country is ready for a woman.”
Hughes added that she will vote for Elizabeth Warren if Warren is nominated to stand against Trump. However, what concerns her is that “the American public won’t care that she’ll be more presidential, and I don’t think they’ll care that she’s more level headed or sane or more financially responsible than Trump”.
On the other hand, the devoted supporter of Warren and a Democratic Voter, 64-year old Margaret Rand said, “I think she can beat Donald Trump because, first of all, she’s head and shoulders smarter than he is. He uses intimidation and she doesn’t have any problem standing up to people. She isn’t a shrinking violet. … She’s like the Energizer Bunny.”
With Joe Biden leading the race amongst his 2020 rivals, 57 percent of the voters, in another poll by Insider, have claimed that the Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren will perform exceptionally in the upcoming third Democratic debate.
Even though it’s been three years since the defeat of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the only question that still looms is if gender would still play a major role in electability.
