The petition to recall California Governor Gavin Newsom has received enough votes to call for a new election. Support for the Republican Trump camp is growing.

California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom may face his election. An aggression campaign against him has been going on for months – known as the “Recall Newsom” – and its supporters are collecting signatures for a new election. Now they have removed the crucial hurdle: 1.6 million voters spoke in support of the plan.

The so-called recall may go to the polls in the fall. Voters must decide whether Newsom should be voted on and which candidate should come after him.
Already the sixth attempt
“I take this very seriously,” he said in an interview with NewSom television channel MSNBC. This is the sixth attempt to oust the Democrats, who have been head of government in California for about 25 months.
There are some right – wing conservative people behind the recent campaign, Newsom said: “The main supporter of this memoir wants to match microchips to immigrants. We have right-wing militant groups and a Trump mega supporter who donated three million dollars.”
The “Recall Newsom” group calls on its website to stop California’s liberal immigration policy, reduce taxes and speak out against stricter gun laws.
Corona peak in January
Another factor is corona infection. As for the governor’s opponents, the California Corona policy is very hostile to business. There are already opposition candidates, including Kevin Falconer, the former mayor of the southern California city of San Diego.
It also criticizes corona operations. There is no science behind banning eating out and closing playgrounds for weeks – then change your mind after two weeks.
Newsom received a lot of praise for its tough anti-corona measures last spring. After some easing, the number of cases rose again. The wave reached its sad peak in January. California now has the lowest Govt-19 case rate in the United States, thanks in part to its successful vaccination campaign.
“Newsom can survive politically”
Last week, another contestant came to Newsom: former best athlete and reality TV star Caitlin Jenner. The 72-year-old, who belongs to a well-known Kardashian clan, is considered a Trump supporter.
Political journalist Kevin Ricks told local California television that Newsom believes he is in a good position to survive politically in a new election. “But potential opponents from his own Democratic ranks could be dangerous to him.”
The turnout is declining
California is considered a democratic state, with only a quarter of the registered Republican electorate. Polls for Newsom are still falling. 40 percent of voters will vote for him.
A memoir for Republicans in 2003 had already become a success: namely Arnold Schwarzenegger, who became California governor.
