Emmanuel the Emu – a viral sensation from early this year – is on the verge of death after bird flu spreads all over his farm… killing plenty of other animals for their owners.
Taylor Blake shared the sad news on Saturday, saying that their business – Knuckle Bump Farms – has been hit hard by bird flu… This is after a group of wild geese flew to their property constantly recently – leaving behind deadly strains of the flu that have taken a heavy toll.
Blake says they have lost 99% of their domesticated birds – including all the ducks, geese, and chickens…not to mention some of their own, including Emily, Eliza and Elliot.
Now, Emmanuel and another imo named Rico seem to be left alive – but TB says Emmanuel is on the mend now after dropping unexpectedly on Wednesday…apparently as a result of a bird flu outbreak on their farm.
Blake says she has been taking care of him around the clock and that Emmanuel is fighting to stay alive. While she is devastated by the loss of their other animals… she says she is grateful to still have Emmanuel, and believes he will make a full recovery – despite some nerve damage.
She explains… “It seems I haven’t been able to get a break for the past few months, but I’m so lucky. I have so much gratitude in my heart that Emmanuel is still alive. Because he’s fighting. That my best friend will come back. I’ll be fine, We’ll be fine!”
Blake says she is working to get Emmanuel back to 100% through physical therapy, and is asking the audience to pray, as well as helping with advice regarding Big Bird PT.
One last thing…it looks like the waters scattered across Florida as a result of Hurricane Ian may have contributed to the frenzy of bird flu. Scary stuff, especially if you have livestock that might be sensitive. Here he hopes that Emmanuel will be able to succeed.
