The English singer-songwriter Adele, who has been named as the Artist of the Year by Billboard thrice, has filed a divorce from her husband Simon Konecki. The news was revealed from the legal documents filed at a court in Los Angeles.
Born in Tottenham, London, the 31-year-old Adele, boosted her career in the US. The singer featured hits including Chasing Pavements and Hometown Glory in 2008, which reached number one in the UK. She is best known for her chart-topping albums 19, 21 and 25, the last of which became the best-selling album of 2015 with record breaking copies.
In 2009, Adele received the awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. In 2011, Adele started dating the charity entrepreneur and Old Etonian Simon Konecki, who was born in New York and later moved with his family to London.
Konecki was previously married to stylist Clary Fisher from 2004 to 2008. He divorced his wife, while dating Adele. In 2012, the couple announced that they were expecting a baby.
Adele gave birth to her son Angelo in October 2012. She was being congratulated by all of her fans. Post becoming a mother, Adele quoted, “I felt like I was truly living. I had a purpose, where before I didn’t.” Along with her boyfriend Simon Konecki, Adele filed a case against a UK-based photo agency that breached their privacy, publishing the images of their son during the couple’s family outings in 2013.
After dating Simon Konecki for five years, Adele married him in 2016. She confirmed her marriage status in March 2017 at an Australian concert, saying that she was happy to be a stay-at-home mother. However, in April the couple announced their separation with reasons of privacy but “committed to raising their son together lovingly”.
In regards to the couple’s separation the star spokesman said, “As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.”
Though the 45-year-old Simon Konecki has been Adele’s long-term lover yet they have parted ways. Luckily their decision would not affect the future of their child.
