37 years, eight months and 22 days.
That’s what Vicky Lynn Hoskinson’s († 8) family said would have to wait for “final justice”. The girl was killed in 1984 by Frank Atwood. The state of Arizona in the United States has now executed a 66-year-old man for the crime he committed.
Flashback, September 17, 1984: Little Vicky goes home to wish an aunt a happy birthday. However, the baby did not get there. The family finds a pink bike in the middle of the street. Witnesses say they saw a man approaching a child in a dark car. Seven months later, tragic confirmation: a climber found the skeleton of an eight-year-old child.
Atwood, a convicted pedophile, is being targeted by investigators, who say he had nothing to do with the girl’s death until he was hanged. However: Investigators found paint residue on his car from Vicky’s bicycle. In 1987, Junkie was sentenced to death.
A sandwich as a hangman dish
The American media has documented the last day of the life of a child killer. At 9:05 a.m., Frank Atwood had his last meal: a disgusting wheat bread sandwich with salami, mustard, peanut butter and jelly. Also a pie chips and a pack of juice.
After the Supreme Court rejected his clemency petition, the 66-year-old was taken to the execution cell at the Arizona State Prison. The last words of the death row inmate: “I pray the Lord will have mercy on all of us.”
About 40 people, including Atwood’s wife, attended the execution, and he reportedly laughed several times. The injection was scheduled for 10:10 a.m., and at 10:16 a.m. Frank Atwood was pronounced dead. He died in the presence of many of Vicky Hoskinson’s relatives.
Debbie Carlson, the mother of the murdered man, held a press conference while in prison as protesters and supporters protested in front of the gates. “Vicky was a fun loving woman who melted people’s hearts with an infectious laugh,” he recalled of his daughter.
Commenting on the killing of Frank Atwood, he said: “We support the death penalty because we do not want this monster to face another child.
“Social media maven. Amateur food buff. Pop culture trailblazer. Tv ninja.”
