Former Vice President and 2020 Democratic hopeful, Joe Biden is witnessing a slow and steady growth of his supporters and with it are increasing the chances of him becoming the President of the United States (POTUS).
As per the verdict of recent polls, Biden is ahead of his democratic rivals Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris and Pete Buttigieg. However, with everyday it seems that there is a difference in the verdict of the polls conducted and the excitement among the voters and his campaign at Ground Zero.
Furthermore, it won’t be wrong to claim that Joe Biden still has a major part of the road to cover to convince Americans that he can surpass President Trump. And perhaps that is the reason why Biden, his wife and the entire campaign staff have worked to present electability argument to ensure, no doubts remain on his policies, age, ideology and verbal mistakes.
During an appearance in Manchester, N.H. on Monday, his wife Dr Jill Biden said, “our candidate might be better on, I don’t know, healthcare than Joe is, but you’ve got to look at who’s going to win this election, and maybe you have to swallow a little bit and say, ‘Okay, I personally like so and so better,’ but your bottom line has to be that we have to beat Trump.”
Seeing the support received, it seems that as of now only Joe Biden is the most eligible candidate to replace the current President. But, will Biden be the next POTUS or would he come crashing down and experience a drop in supporters like Sen. Kamala Harris?
The poll conducted between August 15-18, not only displayed Biden leading the race against his democratic rivals Sanders, Warren, Harris and Buttigieg but also a massive growth of 29 percent of supporters as compared to 22 percent in late June.
Biden is gaining popularity and is currently standing at the top position being the favorite of every candidate. He is also the first choice of the colored community and is also continuously giving tough fight to Sanders on Hispanic voters.
It also won’t be wrong to say that the entire campaign of Joe Biden, which is entirely dependent on “electability”, brings back the memories of the Sean Connery movie, titled ‘The Man Who Would Be King’. How many more supporters will Biden garner would be visible soon after the third democratic debate, expected to take place in mid-September.
