From the global political leaders, President Donald Trump shifted to the Hollywood stars, as he targeted singer John Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen in a series of tweets on Monday mid-night. Trump called out the couple for Legend’s appearance in NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, completely ignoring the fact that Teigen didn’t appear on the series. The abrupt online feud soon led to a new hashtag trend on Twitter, #PresidentP——A—B——.
Apparently written in a foul mood, the tweet addressed John Legend’s failure to give President Trump enough credit for supporting criminal justice reform.
He wrote, “When all of the people pushing so hard for Criminal Justice Reform were unable to come even close to getting it done, they came to me as a group and asked for my help. I got it done with a group of Senators & others who would never have gone for it. Obama couldn’t come close…. ”
Claiming that the Republicans “deserve” to receive credit for it, Trump slammed Legend and his wife. “Guys like boring…. musician @johnlegend and his filthy mouthed wife, are talking now about how great it is but I didn’t see them around when we needed help getting it passed,” he stated.
Both Legend and Teigen took to Twitter and responded to the attack that the President threw at them.
“Imagine being president of a whole country and spending your Sunday night hate-watching MSNBC hoping somebody–ANYBODY–will praise you. Melania, please praise this man. He needs you,” John Legend, 40, reverted to Trump’s criticism in part.
Adding the viral GIF of the First Lady seemingly staring longingly into the eyes of Canadian President Justin Trudeau, Legend added, “Ah, yes. Melania was otherwise occupied. My apologies.”
The singer’s wife, Teigen was equally brutal towards the President. Addressing to their young daughter, she also tweeted, “Luna, remember the night before your first day of school? When mommy was making your sign and the [p—— a— b——] president had his 9th meltdown of the day.”
The 33-year-old also wrote, “The absolute best part of his tweet is I literally didn’t speak in the special, nor was I mentioned. I’m cackling at the pointless addition of me because he cannot not be a bitch.”
Soon after Teigen’s tweets, the hashtag criticizing Trump became a trend.
This is not the first time that the couple has condemned President Trump. Legend, earlier this year, called him a “flaming racist” for describing Baltimore as a “rodent infested mess”.
“Our president is a flaming racist. He’s a piece of s—. He says piece of s— s— all the time. That’s what he does,” Legend told TMZ in July. “We need to get him out of office.”
In 2016, before Trump was elected, Teigen also addressed him as a “f—— monster”.
Although the President was visibly annoyed, it was not just John Legend and his wife, who responded brutally. The fans backed the couple, leaving Trump under criticism yet again.
