in Virginia

Virginian politics has recently been going through turbulent times. After political observations acquired the stance on Democratic governor picture with another person, one dressed in Ku Klux Klan garb and the other in blackface on medical school yearbook page, Virginia was shocked with sexual assault charges levied on lieutenant governor, Justin Fairfax.

Though Democrats were quick to address Gov. Ralph Northam for the racist image from 1984, they are still to reach a conclusive statement on sexual assault allegation against Justin Fairfax. Critics suggest that there is a lack of willingness among Democrats to launch a strict investigation on the allegations.

The critic theory was based on the assumption that all the Democrats have been stating till now “We’re going to wait to see how that information evolves.” A sort of defense was given by The Democratic Party of Virginia on Tuesday. They said an allegation of sexual assault against the state’s lieutenant governor, Justin Fairfax, should be “taken with profound gravity.”

“We will continue to evaluate the situation regarding Lieutenant Governor Fairfax,” the party’s brief statement was also posted on Twitter. In another statement Democratic members of Virginia’s House of Delegates and Senate said: “The facts here are still being determined. Every individual deserves the opportunity to be heard, and we respect anyone who comes forward to share their story.”

The details on Justin Fairfax’s sexual assault case identified the victim as Vanessa Tyson, an associate professor of politics at Scripps College in Claremont, California. As per reports Ms. Tyson has accused Fairfax of forcing her to perform oral sex on him during an encounter at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston. Fairfax till now has denied any wrongdoing and described the encounter as a consensual one.

Tyson’s allegations were first published in by the conservative website Big League Politics. However, Justin Fairfax has accused the post of “smearing” him by giving hype to Tyson’s claims, which as per him are “totally fabricated.”

Through investigation on the case is still in progress.
