Mike McDaniel says the Dolphins are in concussion protocol again

Miami Dolphin Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is back in concussion protocol after reporting symptoms to coach Mike McDaniel, who broke the news Monday.

There was a play in the second quarter during the Dolphins’ loss to Green Bay Packers In which the left fielder shoveled a pass to tight shutout Durham Smith and was tackled from behind, resulting in his head smacking onto the turf at Hard Rock Stadium on Christmas Day.

Tagovailoa stayed in the game, but it wasn’t pretty as he threw three consecutive interceptions on Miami’s final three drives as the Packers scored 16 unanswered points to win 26-20 on the road and keep their playoff hopes alive. It is unclear if Tagovailoa underwent concussion tests after the injury.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins lost their fourth straight game and made things very interesting in the AFC Wild Card The race has a score of 8-7 now.

But more importantly, the NFL knows what Tagovailoa has been through this season in terms of concussion protocol.

The Dolphins took on the Buffalo Bills in Week 3, Tagovailoa slammed his head on the turf like he did against the Packers and came up wobbly just before halftime. However, the Dolphins sent him there, and eventually won the game, 21-19.

But a few days later on “Thursday Night Football”, a scary scene saw Tagovailoa unconscious after being sacked by Cincinnati Bengals He was carried on a stretcher from the field and sent to the hospital.

“Yeah, I remember the whole night up to the point where it was tackled,” he said of that hit against the Bengals via Yahoo Sports. “After I was treated, I don’t remember much from there. I don’t remember that. When I was in the ambulance, I don’t remember that. But I do remember the things that were happening when I was in the ambulance and when I got to the hospital.”

The blow to the head was so bad that Tagovailoa’s hands twisted on the court. Many have speculated that he must have been in concussion protocol after being hit against the Bills. Instead, he was practicing normally before the first game of the week.

It looks like Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins will take on the Green Bay Packers during the second half of a game at Hard Rock Stadium on December 25, 2022, in Miami Gardens, Florida.

The Dolphins claimed that the situation that sent Tagovailoa to the locker room against the Bills was due to a back injury.

Tagovailoa will miss the next two games against the New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings after his early exit in Cincinnati, before returning against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 23.

Dr. Bennett Omalu, who discovered CTE, said at the time that Tagovailoa should retire from the NFL after watching the hit he suffered against the Bengals.
