“In my show, there was a big part of Egypt, and how it has been unauthentically portrayed throughout Hollywood history,” Diab says. SFX Magazine. It’s always weird – we call it Orientalism. It strips us of our humanity. We’re always naked, we’re always sexy, we’re always bad, we’re always on top.”

at Wonderful Woman 1984, Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince and Steve Trevor’s Chris Pine set off for “Cairo,” where the second big movie takes place. At one point, the two spoke to an elder, and even Wonder Woman get the chance To heroically rescue two Egyptian children who were playing soccer in the desert. “You never see Cairo. You always see Jordan being photographed to Cairo, Morocco being photographed to Cairo, and sometimes Spain being photographed to Cairo. This really pisses us off,” Diab says. Wonderful Woman 1984 And there was a great serialization in Egypt and it was a disgrace to us. You had an elder – that makes no sense to us. Egypt looked like a country from the Middle Ages. It looked like a desert.”

Egyptian mythology plays a big role in moon knight Where the titular character comes in his power thanks to the Egyptian moon god Khuncho. Diab directed four episodes of the first season, and provided comic book props for her most accurate depiction of Egypt.

“[It’s] Part of the show because it’s part of the comic book. It’s part of how he gets his powers. It is ingrained in him.” Diab explains. “There was definitely room to play [in Moon Knight] But make it as authentic as possible, in a fantasy world.
