Elections weren’t the only disappointing thing that happened in Florida this week. On Monday, November 7, the beauty YouTuber and noise house star Nikita Dragon He was arrested at the Goodtime Hotel in Miami Beach, Florida, after splashing water from a water bottle on a police officer. Police were called to the Dragun’s hotel room after complaints of Dragun “walking around the pool area naked” and causing a disturbance when asked to stop, TMZ reported. She was arrested on charges of “felony battering of a police officer, misdemeanor disorderly conduct, and misdemeanor battery” and transferred to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County.
On November 8, she actually appeared in bond court, and the now viral recording of the proceedings revealed that Dragon, a transgender woman, was being held in the men’s unit at the Correctional Center. At the compensation hearing, Dragon asked Judge Mindy Glazer, “Should I stay here in the men’s unit, still?” To which Glazer replied, “Yeah, I don’t make the rules there.” Dragun posted a $5,000 bond and was released from prison. “The situation with Nikita, who is legally female, and her placement in a men’s unit in a Florida prison is extremely disturbing and dangerous,” Jack Kitsuyan, her publicist, said in a statement. 10 local news in Miami. “This decision by the Miami-Dade County Corrections Department directly violates its protocol, which provides for the classification and accommodation of transgender inmates based on safety needs and gender identity. A representative for the Miami-Dade prison system released a statement to TMZ denying that Dragun was placed in a men’s unit because she was never booked prior to her release. “All guests undergoing our pick-up process remain in an open seating area (open reservation), in the presence of corrections staff,” the representative stated. “In addition, prisoner Dragon was placed in a holding cell herself due to her prestige prior to her release, and an LGBTQ officer accompanied her during her time at the correction facility.”
