This set of weapons unites the Rammstein team

The Russian war of aggression in Ukraine has been going on for almost a year. Kyiv has recently repeatedly insisted that it needs more military aid to hold its own against Russia. During the so-called Ukraine Liaison Group meeting at the U.S. air base Ramstein in Rhineland-Palatinate, several countries put together new weapons packages.

America

US announces $2.5 billion in arms sales to Ukraine According to the US Department of Defense, the latest aid package does not include main battle tanks, but an additional 59 Bradley tanks, 90 Stryker armored vehicles, Avenger air defense systems and thousands of rounds of ammunition. The package brings the country’s total military aid to Kiev to more than $26.7 billion since Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine began in February last year.

England

Days after announcing the delivery of Challenger 2 heavy battle tanks to Ukraine, London has once again stepped up military aid to Kiev. British Defense Minister Ben Wallace announced plans to send 600 Brimstone missiles to Ukraine. These are anti-aircraft missiles used against armored vehicles and tanks.

Germany

In early January, the central government promised Ukraine 40 “Mortar” armored personnel carriers and a Patriot anti-aircraft missile battery. Additionally, according to Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, seven more anti-aircraft tanks of the “Gepard” type are to be delivered by February, making Ukraine 37 tanks. More guided missiles of the IRIS-T SLM variant are scheduled to be delivered in the coming weeks, followed by another IRIS-T SLM complete system in the spring. Since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression at the end of February, German support has amounted to 3.3 billion euros. However, the debate is determined by demands from Germany and abroad that Kyiv supply the Lebard 2 main battle tank, or at least allow German-made tanks to be supplied to the Allies. Germany has yet to comply. No decision was made on this in Rammstein.

France

Paris plans to send AMX-10 RC light battle tanks to Ukraine However, it is not clear when and how much more maneuverable vehicles will be offered than heavy battle tanks.

Canada

Canada is providing 200 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine. The delivery is part of a $400 million military aid package announced in November. In total, Canada has pledged €920 million worth of military aid to Kyiv, including armored vehicles, howitzers, winter clothing, camera drones and ammunition.

Sweden

Sweden wants to supply Archer artillery system to Ukraine It is not yet clear how many howitzer systems are to be delivered. According to Prime Minister Ulf Kristerson, Sweden plans to send 50 CV-90 infantry fighting vehicles and NLAW anti-tank weapons to Ukraine. With planned deliveries, Sweden is moving away from its stance of not supplying weapons to a country at war.

Netherlands

The Netherlands wants to join the US and Germany in the Patriot program. Prime Minister Mark Rutte spoke to US President Joe Biden and President Olaf Scholz about this. But more is unknown.

Denmark

Denmark says it will donate 19 French-made Caesar howitzers to Ukraine. According to the Danish Defense Ministry, Kiev requested the artillery despite some technical challenges. However, so far only a handful of howitzers have been delivered to Copenhagen from France.

Finland

Helsinki has pledged 400 million euros worth of military aid to Kiev. Finnish Defense Minister Mikko Savola said that this includes heavy artillery and ammunition. This is the largest delivery from Finland to Ukraine to date. The total value of previous liabilities was 190 million euros.

Estonia

According to the Estonian government, anti-tank weapons and ammunition are among the recently promised weapons, worth a total of about 113 million euros. It said the package would increase Estonian military aid to Ukraine by 370 million euros, or more than 1 percent of Estonia’s gross domestic product.
