One person was killed Monday in a shooting at a school in Knoxville, Tennessee. Police in Knoxville said the only man who died at Austin-East High School was a man.

A police officer was hit by at least one bullet and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, the report said. None of the victims are currently known. A male suspect was arrested.

Police said security forces went to the school on an armed suspect. When they approached the suspect, the shooting took place.

In the United States, there have been repeated terrorist attacks on schools. For example, in February 2018, 17 people were killed when a 19-year-old boy opened fire at his former school in Parkland, Florida.
