“Riverdale” Gives Fred Andrews aka Luke Perry a Heartfelt Farewell

in Entertainment

Fred Andrews is a name that no Riverdale fan needs introduction to, solely because of the phenomenal actor, Luke Perry. Perry portrayed the role of Fred for three seasons, until his fateful and untimely demise in March 2019.

Fred, who owned a construction business, hoped that his son Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) would continue with the family business. His relationship with Archie, Hermoine Lodge (Marisol Nichols), his childhood friend FP Jones(Skeet Ulrich) and wife Mary (Molly Ringwald) helped him become one of the favorites amongst the fans of the famed TV series.

Another reason for the popularity of Fred Andrews was his calm and composed nature and concern for employees working for him in his construction business. Additionally, his relationship with his son Archie as a caring, concerning and a reasonable father helped him grow popular amongst the teenagers and youngsters.

However, after the unfortunate death of Luke Perry, it became necessary for the cast and producers of Riverdale to give him the tribute he deserved. Hence, the premiere of season 4 was written to end the unfinished business with an emotional script, which was performed with equal passion by the cast.

The season 4 premiere started with Archie Andrews receiving a call about the demise of his father Fred Andrews due to a hit and run near Cherry Creek. The rest of the show progresses how Archie and the entire cast deal with the demise of the Beverly Hills 90210 star and remembers him as “the engaged father, the empathetic stalwart of the community, the easy listener and quiet talker”.

Moreover, before the premier of Season 4, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, creator of Riverdale and Chief Creative Officer at Archie Comics, posted a heartfelt tribute on Instagram.

He wrote, “With an episode that honors our friend Luke. (I love this picture of him with the boys.) It’s an episode that’s bursting with sadness, but even more so with love. I’m humbled by the outstanding, heroic work everyone did on it. I hope you like it, Luke. As Archie says about his dad, “You will always be a part of Riverdale.””

Besides Aguirre-Sacasa, Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper), Madelaine Petsch (Cheryl Blossom), Skeet Ulrich, Camila Mendes (Veronica Lodge) and Mädchen Amick (Alice Cooper) also paid tribute to Luke Perry.

With season 4 premiered on Wednesday night, even though the cast has bid Perry a farewell, it would be hard for the fans to forget him for his iconic role in Beverly Hills 90210 and Riverdale.
