Democrats have been waiting for the testimony of former special counsel Robert Mueller from a long time as that was the only thing needed to prove that Donald Trump is guilty of obstruction of justice, and to independently investigate his involvement in Russian interference.
With his testimony in front of the congress, it seems that their hopes have been shattered. During the testimony, Mueller rejected Trump’s claim of being exonerated in his report on Russian interference and obstruction of justice in a straightforward manner.
He also claimed that the Russian interference in the elections did and will continue to impose a threat to the American democracy.
Robert Mueller, during his testimony, was not only successful in stripping the Republicans of the comfort to undermine his investigation or the conclusion of his report but also made sure that the Democrats do not receive the push they needed to impeach Trump.
Some of the prime points that can be derived from the testimony are that he made his way throughout the testimony with great difficulty; Democrats will not get the opportunity against Trump they have waited for; the President is guilty of involvement in interference and obstruction of justice; and that Attorney General William P. Barr did not obstruct the investigation in any possible manner.
Former Special Counsel for the United States Department of Justice, Robert Mueller, slammed Trump’s commendation on the unfortunate leak of Democratic emails which the Russians stole.
In lieu of the Russian interference, he said, “They are doing it as we sit here. And they expect to do it during the next campaign.”
When asked about the integrity of his report and investigation, he said, “We spent substantial time assuring the integrity of the report, understanding that it would be our living message to those who come after us.”
“But it also is a signal, a flag to those of us who have some responsibility in this area to exercise those responsibilities swiftly and don’t let this problem continue to linger as it has over so many years,” he added.
Following the testimony of Robert Mueller, Trump continued with his known stance over the report, saying, “This was a devastating day for the Democrats. The Democrats had nothing and now they have less than nothing.”
The only good that has come out of the testimony is that Trump can no longer claim himself to be completely exonerated and that this testimony might impact his re-election campaign.
