After a splendid performance at the fourth Democratic debate and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s support to Sanders Campaign, Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib has now come forward to back Bernie Sanders. Also, Tlaib will be joining Sanders at his Detroit rally on this Sunday.
Moreover, the Sanders campaign on Tuesday released a statement which said that the local leaders and the activists will join both the lawmakers on Sunday at the rally in Detroit. The objective of the rally would be to fight together “for economic, environmental and racial justice, and against the corporate assault on working families across America.”
Tlaib who is the member of the group of the lawmakers known as “the squad,” is the third member of “the Squad” to endorse Sanders and his campaign. Besides Rashida Tlaib, Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar have also endorsed Sanders Campaign.
Also, it won’t be wrong to believe the fact that the endorsement from Tlaib can help Sanders in his quest to emerge victorious in Presidential Primaries amid rising concerns on his viability as President and drop in polls in comparison to Warren and Biden.
And after a splendid performance at the fourth Democratic debate in Ohio, Biden may use the boost in the form of support of “the squad” to up his game, and increase the outreach of people-friendly policies like Medicare for All.
Earlier, at the rally in Queens, Ocasio-Cortez, the youngest elected women in Congress, extended her support to Sanders Campaign, before Rashida Tlaib. At the rally, the congresswoman praised the Vermont Sen. for his public service and progressive track record.
She even appreciated Sanders’ presence in the Senate as “enormous, consistent and nonstop advocacy”. She said, “We right now have one of the best Democratic presidential primary fields in a generation and much of that is because of Bernie Sanders. The halls of congress are no joke. It is no joke to stand up to corporate power and established interest.”
Moreover, the recent performance at the Ohio Debate and the support of Rashida Tlaib and “the squad” to Sanders Campaign has forced many other Democratic rivals to worry about their candidature, especially with Presidential Primaries just a few months away.
