Taylor Swift will be making a comeback as a mega mentor for the season 17 of the widely acclaimed singing competition series The Voice. “Me!” singer previously took the mantle of the mega mentor in the 2014 season.
Coaches John Legend and Blake Shelton posted a promotional video on Instagram about the mega mentor of the show. In the video, Shelton says to Legend, “Yeah, I don’t know who it is. I know it’s supposed to be a big star.”
In response, Legend replies, “I think the person’s like one of the most successful people in music” before Swift casually walks out of the trailer and greets them. As swift walks off, her latest song “Me!” begins to play in background and the two artists realize that she is the Mega Mentor of Season 17 of The Voice.
Apart from Swift, the show will also witness the comeback of veteran Gwen Stefani. Stefani is returning to the series after her last appearance in the season 12 of the show. The Grammy-winning artist and the singer of Love Story will mentor all the contestants along with coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani.
During her time as the mega mentor on the show, Swift will coach each team for the Knockout Rounds.
During the knockout rounds of The Voice, the artists will be paired with the teammate to select a song and will be performing it individually. Only the coaches will decide the winner and the artists not selected can be stolen by other coaches.
The knockout rounds will be broadcasted from late October whereas, the show will commence from Monday, Sept. 23 at NBC. What makes this season interesting is that each coach can steal an artist only once in the knockout rounds.
Blake Shelton in response to Taylor Swift making a comeback as mega mentor said, “The first season that she came on, she instantly knew what to say, knew what her job was and was great at it. This season, she brings even more experience to the table. It’s no accident that she’s the biggest star in the world. She’s not only talented, but she’s really smart. So it’s fun to work with.”
It will certainly be reveling to witness Swift once again as the mega mentor in The Voice as not only she is a beautiful singer but also because it has been quite a monumental year for You Need to Calm Down star. Swift has continuously been making news for all good reasons including the success of her latest album “Lover” and a remarkable comeback at the MTV VMA 2019.
