Buckeye captain TreVeyon Henderson is one of 12 players listed as unavailable in Ohio State’s official status report before kick-off at noon against Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois. Henderson, who has 552 yards and six points in 96 attempts in 2022, will miss his second full game of the year. That leaves Ohio State with only three health scholarships in Saturday’s game.

Henderson suffered a foot injury that kept him sidelined after just four times in the Buckeyes’ Week 3 meeting with Toledo, and despite returning to work the following week, Henderson sat out in Week 5. Returning to the field in Week 6, Henderson’s day ended early against Michigan State after the swipe at the start of the third quarter.

Starting both games after farewell week, Henderson rushed for 116 yards and scored two goals in 27 games against Iowa and Penn State. Those two touchdowns came in the final quarter of Ohio State’s win last week over the Nittany Lions, a contest in which he left Meanne Williams injured after just two campaigns.

But Williams, who leads Ohio State with 10 touchdowns and an average of 6.9 yards per vehicle, is available to play against the 109th-ranked rush defense at Northwestern in Illinois.

Ryan Day said this week that he expects to see real new signing Dalan Hayden and Arizona State mover Chip Trianum, who switched from quarterback to running back after a season-ending injury to TC Cave, take the shots in the backcourt against Northwestern. Fellow running back Kayden Saunders will also miss Saturday’s game.

Running back isn’t the only group affected by the injury this week. Jackson Smith-Nigegba will miss his sixth game of the season as he deals with an ongoing hamstring injury he picked up in the first week. This is Smith Ngigba’s second consecutive absence since returning to play part of the first half against Iowa after his farewell week.

Cameron Brown will also be knocked out by Northwestern’s game, which will be the fifth game he will miss in 2022. Second-year defensive back JK Johnson has started each of the previous two games in place of Brown at centre-back, though Jordan Hancock also saw regular shots in rotation. Denzel Burke vs Penn State.

Long-haired snapper Bradley Robinson remains unavailable after a knee injury against Iowa State is expected to sideline him for the rest of the season, and among the other Buckeyes who will be sidelined on Saturday are Buckeye captains Kurt Williams and Camryn Pape.
