CHAPEL HILL, NC — The NCAA transfer gate opened Monday, and like all programs nationwide, it’s sure to impress North Carolina. Players will have 45 days (5th December – 18th January) to enter their name in the portal.
“I told our guys if you want to leave, let us know and we will try to help you,” said the UNC command instructor mac brown He said recently. “You don’t leave because you’re angry, you leave because you don’t play enough. And I understand that you want to play and you work so hard not to… If we’re really talking about guys, how do you get mad at them when they want to play? I just don’t think that’s right or fair. Help us while you’re here, we’ll help you when you’re gone, and we’ll be in touch with you for the rest of your life.
“I also told them…if they want to leave and they leave for the right reasons and they’re training hard to help us win this game, I don’t mind if they go to the gate and stay in the bowl game because they leave because they want more playing time. If they’re doing everything right I get it. You helped us get to this situation. I’d like you to be able to end it. …
“You have to keep recruiting, you have to keep building and it’s no different than your job. You try to build on it every day, you try to make it stronger. And what we have to do is if we lose a second team player because he’s not playing, we can get a transfer start to boost that.” Center, we are a better team next year.”
