Hunter Biden has resigned from the Board of Directors of the Chinese company amidst the criticism for misusing the administrative power of his father and former Vice President Joe Biden for his own personal benefits.
Now that only a few days remain for the fourth Democratic debate in Ohio, the segregation of the Democratic hopefuls as top contenders for the presidential primaries will not be a problem anymore. Furthermore, after Hunter’s resignation, there is no need for Joe to play defensive anymore.
He can focus on expanding the outreach of his policies, boosting the number of supporters and his presidential campaign instead of defending himself and his son Hunter Biden to President Trump.
The latest polls show Sen. Elizabeth Warren as the front-runner amongst all the Democratic rivals. However, Hunter’s resignation just a few days prior to the fourth Democratic debate can be considered a well-thought move.
This move will ensure that Joe can easily avoid or turn the questions on him or his son’s involvement in a foreign country in any direction, putting him right back in the league with the top Democratic hopefuls.
As per the statement released by George Mesires, Hunter’s attorney, he (Hunter) will resign from the board of the Chinese company BHR, by the end of this month. Moreover, the statement also claimed that if Joe becomes the 46th President of the country in 2020 elections, his son Hunter Biden, “will agree not to serve on boards of, or work on behalf of, foreign owned companies”.
The statement said, “Hunter always understood that his father would be guided, entirely and unequivocally, by established U.S. policy, regardless of its effects on Hunter’s professional interests. He never anticipated the barrage of false charges against both him and his father by the President of the United States.”
Following the announcement of Hunter’s soon-resignation, Joe at a press conference on Sunday took a jibe at the President’s sons holding various offices at the White House or working with foreign business partners from Dubai to Indonesia and India.
He said, “No one in my family will have an office in the White House, will sit in on meetings as if they’re a Cabinet member, will in fact have any business relationship with anyone that relates to a foreign corporation or a foreign country.”
Additionally, after the resignation of Hunter Biden, the GOP members are left with nothing to defend the President for his involvement with foreign government and misusing the power to launch an investigation on Joe Biden and his son.
This has resulted in utter frustration amongst the GOP members. The statement made by Doug Collins, a GOP member from Georgia, is a prime example. Collins said, “I think this is just another way to save a flailing campaign that’s going down. He knows he’s in trouble and this is just another way to try and detract attention.”
Will the son’s sacrifice bring in more voters for Joe Biden or will Warren continue to maintain the lead and become the first female President of the US?
