Ohio State debuted the third-placed player in Kansas State, who is originally from Miami, on January 26. Just over five weeks after getting his show, Middleton toured the Buckeyes facilities, and an official visit on March 4 seems to make a lasting impression.
Middleton included Ohio State among his top five schools the following month, with the Buckeyes in the mix along with Kansas, UConn, Texas A&M and Seton Hall – an interesting mix of schools with five different states and four different conferences represented.
Amid EYBL’s work with the Brad Beal Elite AAU team and other summer ball opportunities, Middleton made an official visit to Seton Hall on June 13 and another to UConn later in the month. The wire winger made his decision on a landing spot for college the following month, with Middleton announcing on July 17 that he would be committing this weekend.

Just three days later, Middleton has scaled his list down in a move that may surprise some. His last three schools have included Ohio State, UConn, and Seton Hall, which means Bill Self and the Jayhawks – who many assumed would shut down a Wichita producer – are no longer in the picture.
It was the scarlet and gray who won in the end.
Middleton said eleven warriors In April, he said the cohesive nature of the program – from coaching staff to graduates – impressed him from the start.
“Ohio State, my visit was really good. “Coach (Jake) Deppler, coach Holtmann, they are doing a great job with their players in terms of development, and in terms of the player as well,” Middleton said. “The campus is really good, the real thing I put them on the list for is probably because the family is among the players. The old players who played there, during the summer the guys come back, they can play with the players, teach the players, things like that.”
Middleton is rated as the sixth best junior striker in the country, but positionally, Boukays sees him as a next-level goalkeeper. A player with a circumferential orientation despite his remarkable height at the high school level, Middleton is also considered one of the best defenders in the 2023 class.
Middleton is now the fourth commitment in the 2023 class for the Buckeyes. All four are four-star rated in the 247Sports Composite. Middleton is the only out-of-state commitment in the Ohio State class, joining George Washington III from Chaminide Julian (Number 60 in general), Devin Royal of Pickerington Central (No. 73and Austin Parks at St. Marys MemorialNo. 105). (Washington lived in Louisville when he committed to Ohio, but has since moved to Dayton.)
Four may be the Buckeyes’ magic number in the 2023 cycle, but don’t rule out the possibility of one more commitment before all is said and done.
